Telekom Malaysia Selects Equinix Internet Hubs to Deploy Global Network

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 2003--

Malaysia's Premiere Telecommunications Provider to Expand and Enhance

Access to Leading Global Networks at Equinix Centers

Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq:EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced that Telekom Malaysia (S) Pte Ltd. has selected Equinix's Singapore Internet Business Exchange(TM) (IBX(R)) center as a strategic interconnection site for the deployment of the carrier's global network.

Telekom Malaysia is Malaysia's leading communications company, serving both the corporate and residential markets with a comprehensive portfolio of data services. Along with the company's telecommunications infrastructure within Malaysia, Telekom Malaysia's services for businesses include cellular, data products and services, conferencing, Internet and multimedia services, broadcast, and specialized network services.

Telekom Malaysia will utilize Equinix's Singapore center to establish a network Point of Presence (POP) in order to directly interconnect with the critical mass of networks currently operating within Equinix's Internet hub. By operating within the same Equinix IBX center as its network partners, Telekom Malaysia can directly interconnect with these partners, drastically reducing overall costs through the elimination of the expense and maintenance of multiple connection circuits. The direct interconnection also eliminates the long-distance transit as a potential point of latency and failure by establishing the most streamlined path between networks.

"Equinix's Internet hubs are critical aggregation points for the networks powering the Internet, offering Telekom Malaysia an opportunity to expand our global network while enhancing reliability and performance and reducing overall costs," said Mr. Lai Hook Kian, managing director of Telekom Malaysia (S) Pte Ltd. "Many of our strategic networking partners are located at Equinix's centers and are within meters of our operations, rather than hundreds of kilometers away."

"As one of the premiere telecommunications providers in Asia, Telekom Malaysia offers a comprehensive array of network services," said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. "By moving to Equinix's Internet hubs, Telekom Malaysia can not only reduce costs, enhance performance and improve reliability, but they can also quickly scale their operations to meet growing market demands."

Equinix's Internet exchange services enable enterprise and Internet companies to quickly, easily and privately interconnect with a choice of business partners, service providers and customers, providing them with the flexibility, speed and adaptability they need to accelerate business growth, and improve Internet performance. By operating within these neutral hubs of network service providers, companies can cost-effectively execute strategic connectivity agreements with their key business partners within a highly secure and reliable environment.
